Development Charges

Background

Council of The Corporation of The Town of Ajax passed Development Charge By-law No. 115-2003 on September 8, 2003, under Section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997. 

Changes/Adjustments

Under Section 17 of By-law 115-2003, development charges shall be indexed and revised annually, commencing September 30th, 2004 and each September 30 thereafter. 

Payment

Charges for residential and non-residential development are payable at the time of building permit issuance. Charges are calculated and payable at the rate in effect when payment is due.

This document is a consolidation of the final results of the 2003 Town of Ajax Development Charge Background Study, as adopted by Council on September 8, 2003, and contains the Town-wide Development Charge By-law (115-2003).

2008 Development Charge Background Study

The Town of Ajax has begun the 2008 Development Charge Background Study. On Thursday, July 3, 2008, the Council of the Town of Ajax held a public meeting, pursuant to Section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997, to present and obtain public input on the Town’s proposed Development Charges By-Law and underlying Background Study.

In order that sufficient information is made available to the public, the proposed By-law and the Background Study have been posted on the Web site (click here) and hard copies are available from the Finance Deptartment, located at Town Hall.
