| The Friends of the Ajax Public Library is a nonprofit, charitable organization. The purpose of the Friends is to foster public awareness, understanding and enjoyment of library services in the Town of Ajax. The Friends raise funds, support special projects, and enhance library services. |
| What does being a Friend mean? |
|
 Being a Friend means knowing that you are making a real contribution to ensure that your Library remains a vital presence in the community. As a Friend you will also receive:
- Invitation to Friends events.
- A membership newsletter.
- Voting privileges at the Annual General Meeting.
To join the Friends simply print off the membership formand mail it with your payment to the Friends of the Ajax Public Library or drop it off at your local Library branch. Not only will you be supporting your local library but you will be joining one of over 100 Friends groups that have been identified across Canada. FOCAL is a national "grass roots" association committed to providing leadership, motivation and support to all Friends groups in their efforts to preserve and strengthen libraries and create awareness and appreciation of library services.  Special thanks to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 322 Ajax. Emma Smith, 3rd Vice President of the Legion recently presented a cheque for $10,000 to the Friends. This donation is part of the Million Dollar Capital Fund and brings the total contribution from the Legion to $90,000.

Ajax Film Circuit

Show tickets go on sale the day after the previous month’s movie. Individual tickets are $7.00 in advance at all library branches or $7.50 at the theatre – just visit the Film Circuit table in the theatre lobby.
The Film Circuit runs one Wednesday each month from September through May (except December). The Ajax Film Circuit is a project of the Friends of the Ajax Public Library in conjunction with the Toronto International Film Festival Group.

 April 14, 2010: Love and Savagery
Set In 1969, Love and Savagery is a lyrical story of an impossible love. Geologist and poet Michael McCarthy travels from his native Newfoundland to the west coast of Ireland to study the intricate and stunning landscape of The Burren. But the most beautiful thing Michael encounters is Cathleen O'Connell. Although she is about to dedicate her life to the Church, Cathleen is inescapably drawn to Michael. In a community torn between its traditional roots and its aspirations for the future, the growing affection between the stranger and Cathleen is deeply unsettling.

Based in real theatrical history, Me and Orson Welles is a romantic coming-of-age story about a teenage actor who lucks into a role in “Julius Caesar” as it’s being re-imagined by a brilliant, impetuous young director named Orson Welles at his newly-founded Mercury Theatre in NYC, 1937.
