Solar Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) Workshop for Businesses
The Solar FIT Workshop for Businesses was held on May 28, 2010 with the purpose of providing businesses the opportunity to learn about the FIT program and how to navigate the due diligence process. Supported by the Region of Durham and Durham Strategic Energy Alliance (DSEA), nearly 100 regional attendees participated in the workshop. The presentation and panel discussion was led by Steve Horwood, local Ajax resident and Business Development Manager for Black & McDonald. Other members of the panel included: Bryan Bentrott of SunEdison, Jay Crossen of Barry-Bryan Associates, Terry Britton of Veridian, Tracy Hammer of SunLit Technologies, and Dave Meredith, Director of Operations for the Town of Ajax. Master of Ceremonies was courtesy of John G. Smith, President of WordSmith Media and Chair of the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade.
The workshop provided attendees with a candid background on the FIT program, the potential return on investment, and how to determine if solar is the best application for their business or building. The Town’s Business Development & Marketing team will be posting video clips of the event and you can download the presentation here.
Economic Development & Tourism Strategy
The Town of Ajax was awarded $90,000 through Industry Canada’s Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) to develop an Economic Development and Tourism Strategy. The process will build off of our existing strengths, as well as identify new and emerging opportunities on which to base the future prosperity of the Town. The strategy will also identify key challenges, gaps and barriers, assess the local assessment base, and propose specific infrastructure requirements, all as they pertain to achievement of successful economic development.
Ajax... First for Business.
Since its early beginnings, Ajax has been a town where prosperity has flourished. We believe that it is because we possess the key ingredients for a strong and robust local economy. Strategically located in the business heartland of Ontario, Ajax offers the best in location, price, access, service and support. That’s why more than 1,900 businesses call Ajax home.
